Canon EOS 50D

Canon EOS 50D briefly appears on Canon Chinese's site this afternoon.

Here are some of the specs:
-15.1MP Sensor with 1.6x Crop
-ISO 12800
-DIGIC4 Processor
-Dust Reduction
-3" LCD with VGA Resolution
-Built in Image Stabilization (pretty weird for Canon to came out with this as they have a great IS Lens line)

As a beginner / noob to DSLR I don't mind buying the EOS 40D when the 50D launch as the price for 40D will be going down even more!

Review: Dell Vostro 1510

My uncle just bought a Dell Vostro 1510, over the weekend i have the chance to play with it as he asked me to install some common use software into his Vostro.

Spec:
Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz, 3MB Cache, 800MHz FSB)
3GB DDR2-667 Ram
320GB WD SATA2 HDD
8x Slot load DVD +/- RW
15.4" WXGA Display with Anti-glare
128MB nVidia 8400GS DDR3
Genuine Windows Vista Business

I only had my HTC Touch in my hand throughout the review, so there is only 1 pict taken. Click here for more picture of Vostro 1510.

Overall the spec is almost the same as my Inspiron 1420, the difference are only my Inspiron is running a T8300 processor and smaller 14" Display. So performance wise.

One issue I wanted to bring up in this review will be Dell build quality. The design for the laptop seriously not bad! But the materials that being used is very cheapo, too much plastic, the feel of typing with it is not as good as my Inspiron. Furthermore, the plastic look couldn't attract me to do my work with the laptop.

Another cons about this Vostro will be the Slot load DVD +/- RW, when you insert a disc to the drive, the noise that produced is seriously bloody loud! Even louder than the XPS 1530 drive.

IMHO, if you plan to buy an business laptop, try to consider other brand like Lenovo Thinkpad rather than spending RM 4.2k on this piece of plastic, i know the spec of other brand may not match with Dell but the premium you paid at least you can buy more metal with it!

Palm Treo Pro

Palm push their Treo Pro out while HTC launched their Touch Pro.

I always love the QWERTY keypad on a Treo, don't have to slide out the keypad like Touch Pro do which lead to slimmer design, not to forget the well spacing in between key makes it easier to type.

Another pros of Treo Pro will be 3.5mm headphone jack, it means you can plug in any of your favourite headphone.

Spec of Treo Pro:
-400MHz CPU
-256MB ROM / 128MB Ram
-320x320 pixel display
-Wi-Fi
-Built-in GPS
-HSDPA
-2MP Camera

HTC Touch Pro

The successor of TyTN II is finally here - Touch Pro. Basically Touch Pro is a Touch Diamond + a slide out QWERTY keypad.

Spec is more or less the same with Touch Diamond, the only difference will be more ram in the phone, 512MB of internal storage rather than 4GB in the Diamond but you will get a microSD slot in the Touch Pro.

The most obvious physical difference will be thicker in size, this is because of the slide out QWERTY keypad, which i think it spoils the look of the Diamond design. I still prefer the sleek Diamond design.

DFI LP JR P45-T2RS

DFI is back with their LANPARTY series Motherboard in mATX form factor, very very interesting, Crossfire on mATX board really match it's series name - LANPARTY, suitable for LANPARTY go-er which prefer bringing smaller rig yet do not want to lose any performance.

ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

ATI just launched their dual GPU graphic card for the HD 4800 series. Since the launch of the HD 4800 series, ATI has gain quite a number of good words from review on their performance is better than their rival Nvidia. I pray hard that the heat issue on the HD 4850 & HD 4870 does not carry to this card.
